How DSL Works
DSL Service consists of three components, hardware, transport and Internet access:
- DSL Modem: The first component is similar to a traditional analog modem; a DSL modem connects your computer to the Internet via your telephone. However, DSL modems have several special features. A DSL modem allows you use the Internet while simultaneously using the telephone. If you wish, your DSL modem can be left on so the Internet is always ready to be used. In most cases, DSL modems allow more than one computer to be connected to the Internet simultaneously, even wirelessly.

Qwest DSL: This is the "transport" component. Qwest provides the DSL "transport" signaling over your existing telephone line. You have several different choices of speed for your DSL connection:
